The Susan M. Cochran Scholarship for Faulkner Studies
Created in honor of Columbus resident Susan M. Cochran and her dedication to studies of great author William Faulkner, the Scholarship for Faulkner Studies supports faculty and student travel to the University of Mississippi's yearly Faulkner and Yoknapatawpha Conference in July. 4 participants will attend the conference with opportunities to visit the home and grave of Faulkner and to enjoy the charms of Oxford, Mississippi.
The 2012 conference, from July 7-11, is titled "Fifty Years After Faulkner" and will include presentations from major scholars across the disciplines. For more information on the conference, visit here: http://www.outreach.olemiss.edu/events/faulkner/.
This scholarship is open to all CSU faculty and staff who have an interest in southern cultures. Conference fees and accomodations will be paid. In order to apply, please fill out the application form and submit a 500-word essay describing why you are a strong candidate and why you are interested in attending the annual Faulkner conference. Please note: in order to attend, you must agree to give a brief, informal presentation about your experiences at the conference during the fall semester.
The deadline for submissions is March 15, 2012. Completed submissions can be emailed directly to [email protected]. Scholarship recipients will be announced on April 2, and recipients must commit to travel before or on April 9.
